Lending Library Established at MJH
MISD is proud to announce the creation of a Technology Lending Library to supplement the Bring Your Own Device implementation. Emails and information through Family Access have been sent home to parents. Please click on link below for more information regarding this exciting new opportunity.

MJH Competes in UIL
Mabank Jr. High will compete in their District UIL Academic Competition on Saturday, January 31, 2015. The contest will be held at O.P. Norman Jr. High in Kaufman, Texas. Events are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
Junior High Yearbook Ads
Junior High yearbook ads are now being accepted. Ads may be purchased directly from a yearbook staff member, yearbook sponsor, or online at www.yearbooksforever.com. 7th Grade History Field Trip Planned
7th Graders from Mr. Birnbaum and Ms. Spradling's Texas History Class will be touring the former Texas School Book Depository Building on February 26 and 27, 2015. Students will be bringing home permission forms and other information prior to the trip dates. During this trip, the students will be introduced to the facts and area where significant evidence of the sniper, Lee Harvey Oswald, was found. The exhibit presents nearly 400 historic television and radio broadcasts, films, photographs, and artifacts to help tell the story of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination on November 22, 1963. Museum curators will also present your child an in-depth program that details the crime scene investigation conducted at the Texas School Book Depository, including what was in the crime scene investigative kit that belong to Lt. Carl Day, head of the Dallas Police Crime Scene Search Unit in 1963. Students will be encouraged to actively engage in this entire enriching event. A graded academic assignment will be tied to this field trip.
Dallas Maverick Leadership Conference
Members of the National Junior Honor Society, Student Council, and Jr. High Cheer Squad are making plans to attend the Dallas Maverick Leadership Conference on Monday, February 2, 2015. Student will introduced to staff members in leadership positions. The staff will discuss their personal successes as well as leadership traits, styles, and issues. Along with this, information on how leadership and community service are related to success in their everyday lives. After the conference, students will attend a basketball game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
MJH Cheer Tryouts Scheduled
Tryouts for Jr. High Cheerleaders have been scheduled for March 6, 2015. Students wishing to tryout need to pick up a tryout packet from the front office or print one from the link below. Packets are due back by February 20th. For further information, please contact Mrs. Goodwin or Mrs. DeGarmo.
