Welcome to the Scoggins website! I have been teaching for nine years. I am a graduate of Mabank and I am so excited to be back. I received my undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas and my masters degree from Southern Methodist University. On any given weekend you can expect me to be watching Aggie football, hanging out with my three kids, binge watching Netflix, or reading a good book. I love to travel and SCUBA dive.
For the 2017-2018 school year I will be teaching AP Psychology, AP Human Geography, Pre-AP Geography, and AP Macroeconomics. My goals for each and every class is to prepare students for the next life step. In today's world that means thinking critically, solving problems, using technology safely and effectively, goal setting, and writing with purpose.
This course takes a closer look at the way the Humans interact with the each other and the physical environment. In other words, this course looks at culture and economics. Students are encouraged to engage in class discussion, ask questions, and self reflect on their place in the global picture.
As an AP (Advanced Placement) course this class will be conducted and graded at the college level. Students will be expected to complete all assignments on time and complete the assigned reading. There is no substitute for completing the assigned reading. Please see the course syllabus for more detailed information.
This course is designed as an introduction to psychology. The topics covered range from the historical foundations of psychology to the brain's chemical response to stimuli. Students will have a better understanding of the human psyche and the impact of life events on it.
This course is designed to introduce students to the concepts of macroeconomics. Macroeconomics is a big picture look of government economics policy. Students will discuss economics policy, market impacts, and global trade forecasts.
Policy debate or CX debate deals with one resolution for the entire academic year. It is a UIL competition. There are multiple studies and articles stating debate as the single best thing for college admission offices to see on a student resume.
CX Debate practice is every Wednesday, room 106.
