Mabank FCCLA students host the annual Valentine's Day Senior Prom for Cedarview Assisted Living Home.
Since 2010 the Mabank FCCLA group has hosted a Valentine’s Day Senior Prom for the Cedarview Assisted Living home. Tonya Walker, activity director, was contacted about doing the dance on February 13, 2014. Our chapter continued the tradition by giving a Valentine Senior Prom for the residents at Cedarview assisted living home. We welcomed all community members that were interested in participating. Residents were escorted by the family members as well as other students from Mabank High School. Refreshments, decorations, make up and clothing were provided by the Mabank FCCLA chapter and some community members. King- Tonie Callison and Queen- Adelle Rowan, were chosen by the residents that night. All residents, community members, and FCCLA members had a great time dancing the night away. If you have any questions about this event or the MHS FCCLA chapter, contact Barbara Jedlicka at 903-880-1600.

What is Dating Violence?
Dating violence refers to any kind of abusive act in a dating relationship. It is most obvious when physical or sexual abuse is involved, but also includes verbal abuse, threats and extreme possessiveness. At its core, dating violence is a pattern of abusive behaviors that one person uses to control another in a relationship.
The statistics are alarming. Statewide surveys of 16 to 24-year old Texans by the Texas Council on Family Violence show:
• 75% either have personally experienced dating violence or know someone who has.
• 50% have personally experienced dating violence.
